(Undated) – Health experts are reminding the public to stay safe as the first real blast of summer heat is forecast for this weekend. The National Weather Service is calling for daytime highs in the mid to upper 90s beginning Sunday and continuing through at least next week. The public is reminded to drink plenty of water, stay in an air-conditioned room when possible, stay out of the sun as much as possible, check up on relatives and neighbors, and young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency and you should call 911.
