(Undated) — Just “do not respond.” That’s the message from the Better Business Bureau when it comes to texts from the “Illinois Tollway.” We’ve likely all received at least one. The text claims to be from the Illinois Tollway, claiming we owe money and need to pay up. Better Business Bureau Investigator, Don O’Brien, says these scams make up most new claims at the BBB. O’Brien reiterates that if you receive these types of text messages, whether from the “Tollway Authority,” the IRS, Amazon, PayPal, or your local bank, you should never click on a link inside the message. He says those links often contain malware that can infiltrate an individual’s phone.
