(Undated) – Recent rains continue to cause flooding throughout the area. A “Flood Warning” remains in effect for the Wabash River “due to multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms.” With the threat of flooding, authorities are once again reminding drivers to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.” The National Weather Service reports that over half of all flood-related drowning occurs when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water. They remind the public that just six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles. They say it is never safe to drive or walk into floodwaters.
