for the second week in a row

I was biased when picking this week’s play of the week. Biased in that I didn’t want to give it to Willson Contreras for the second week in a row. Sometimes you just gotta hand it to a guy. The sites haven’t updated yet, so I have to calculate this manually, so forgive me if I am wrong here, but 5-for-19 with one home run, three runs scored, and four RBI as of May 2. Then combined in the doubleheader on May 4 he went 4-for-8 with four RBI and another run scored. Over the course of the week that is 9-for-27 with four runs scored, and eight RBI. Not too shabby.

Back-to-back player of the week honors might be an indication that things are starting to look up for Contreras. So far, he has had a challenging start to this season; his walk rate and power numbers are all down from her career averages and he is getting on base far less frequently than usual. However, his recent surge suggests that he may be turning a corner. Despite early struggles, Contreras has shown signs of improvement at the plate. His ability to drive in runs and work deep counts has started to pay off, giving the Cardinals much-needed offensive production. If he can continue this upward trend, he could re-establish himself as one of the team’s most reliable hitters in the lineup.

(When looking for these videos I was reminded of pretty big blunder Contreras had in the field. We are just… gonna ignore that I think.)

But that’s just my opinion. Who is your player of the week?
