(Undated) — Former owner and namesake of WTYE, Jerry Tye, passed away yesterday. Tye served as the News and Sports Director for WTAY AM and FM for many years before becoming the owner in 1994. Following his purchase of the Ann Broadcasting Company, Tye had the call letters of 101.7 changed to WTYE. He served as owner and general manager until selling to Vincennes based TOC Media in 2010. Tye was also the “voice of RHS” for several years and was inducted into the RHS Hall of Fame in February. Jerry Tye passed away at the age of 85. Arrangements are pending with the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson.
