Newton Rolls the Lady Maroons

(Robinson) — Newton rolled to a 9-2 win over the RHS Lady Maroons in Thursday softball action. A six-run third-inning burst from Newton proved to be enough to put the game out of reach for the Lady Maroons. Eva Herman took the loss for RHS, pitching five innings, giving up eight runs on seven hits, striking out four, and walking two. Olivia Chiasson pitched the final frame, giving up one run on one hit, walking one, and striking out none. With the loss, the Lady Maroons fall to 11-10 on the season. They are set to be back in action tomorrow for a home game against Lawrenceville. First pitch is set for 9 a.m. Yesterday’s RHS Boys Varsity Baseball game against Mt. Carmel was postponed, and will be made up on May 14th. The 9-9 Maroons are set to face county rival OPH this afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
