(Undated) — Crawford County Sheriff, Bill Rutan, is reminding the public to “Look Twice Save a Life.” Rutan says the “Start Seeing Motorcycles” campaign in Illinois, initiated by the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police, aims to raise awareness and promote safety for motorcyclists and other road users. The campaign, which coincides with May being designated as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, encourages drivers to be extra vigilant when sharing the road with motorcycles. Drivers are reminded to look twice before changing lanes, use mirrors and blind spot checks, allow ample space for motorcycles to maneuver, and be aware of group riding and communicate accordingly. Motorcyclists are reminded to wear protective gear and bright colors, use lane position to increase visibility, ride with headlights on, ride sober, signal before changing lanes, and avoid weaving between lanes.
