GasBuddy Continues to Watch Prices

By Tony Collins May 13, 2025 | 6:41 AM

(Undated) — Gas prices have slipped lower over the last week. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, even with oil prices jumping more than $4 per barrel compared to a week ago, the national average price of gasoline has resumed its decline as refineries wrap up seasonal maintenance and prepare to boost output. De Haan says as we approach Memorial Day, gas prices may see some minor fluctuations, but for now, he doesn’t expect any significant changes to the national average. However, with de-escalation in the trade war between the U.S. and China, we could see oil jumping on the optimism, which could push gas prices up slightly in the weeks to come. The current national average is $3.13 a gallon, a nickel jump from yesterday.
