CDC Issues Food Safety Reminder

By Tony Collins May 22, 2025 | 6:36 AM

(Undated) — The Memorial Day Weekend will bring outdoor cookouts and barbecues, and potentially a spike in reports of foodborne illness. According to the CDC, cooking and serving food outdoors is the perfect environment for foodborne illness. They remind the public that keeping foods cold by using a cooler, avoiding cross-contamination, and cooking foods to the proper temperature are among the top things you can do to reduce the chance of spoiling. Also, make sure all leftovers are kept in the freezer, fridge, or on ice within two hours after cooking, or one hour if it is above 90 degrees outside.
