(Undated) – Monday is the start of the “summer grilling season,” and authorities are reminding you to stay safe. According to the National Fire Protection Association, fire departments went to an annual average of eighty-nine hundred home fires involving grills, hibachis, or barbecues, including thirty-nine hundred structure fires and nearly five thousand outside or unclassified fires. Children under five accounted for about thirty-nine percent of the “contact-type burns” per year. These burns typically occurred when someone, often a child, bumped into, touched, or fell on the grill, grill part, or hot coals.
