Gas Price Higher Than a Week Ago But Well Below Last Year

(Updated) — The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is a penny higher than a week ago but significantly lower than last year. According to this morning’s numbers from GasBuddy.com, the national average is $3.19 a gallon, down thirty-seven cents from Memorial Day weekend 2024. Here in Illinois, the statewide average is $3.43 a gallon, a four-cent increase from a week ago, but fifty-nine cents lower than a year ago. Drivers in Indiana are paying an average of $3.25 a gallon, up four cents from last Friday but forty cents lower than Memorial Day weekend 2024. Mississippi drivers are paying the lowest statewide average at $2.64 a gallon. In California, the statewide average is $4.83 a gallon.
