German rave-rockers Electric Callboy have released a new song, ‘Revery’, which sees them explore a “darker, more serious” sound – check it out below.
Last weekend, the electro-metal band – known for hits like ‘We Got The Moves’ and ‘RATATATA’ with BABYMETAL – released ‘Revery’; it marks their second release of the year following ‘Elevator Operator’, and their first since the departure longtime drummer David-Karl Friedrich.
‘Revery’, while still containing electronic-adjacent elements and their signature catchy choruses, sees the band experiment with a more straight-forward metal sound. They said in a press statement: “This song dives into a darker, more serious side of our sound and means a lot to us personally because it’s so different from what we usually do.”

The “more serious” sound the band reference mark a divergence from their past meme-ish songs that contained comedic gimmicks. These were notably prevalent in songs like ‘Hypa Hypa’ and ‘Tekkno Train’.
Additionally, Electric Callboy have recently announced that Sum 41 drummer Frank Zummo will be replacing David-Karl Friedrich on the kit for their upcoming summer festival tour, dubbing him their “drummer for the summer”. This suggests Zummo will not serve as Friedrich’s permanent replacement.
The band announced Friedrich’s departure in April, sharing that after 13 years with the band, the sticksman wants to “do something new and will follow his own path from now on”.
Last month, the band announced a UK and European tour in late 2025 and early 2026 that will include a sold-out show at London’s Alexandra Palace on November 11. See the full list of dates here and find tickets here.
