Corn Planting Remains Behind 5 year Average Statewide

(Undated) — Corn planting statewide remains behind the five-year average. According to the USDA Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report released last week, corn planted reached 82 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 87 percent. Corn emerged reached 70 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 69 percent. Corn condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 28 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 12 percent excellent. Soybeans planted reached 75 percent, equal to the 5-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 58 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 50 percent. Soybean condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 53 percent good, and 9 percent excellent. Winter wheat headed reached 72 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 87 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 11 percent excellent.
