Miles Kane will play the last ever live show at The Leadmill in Sheffield later this month. Find all the details below.
The Liverpool singer-songwriter is set to headline the Steel City’s legendary independent music venue on Friday June 27. He’ll be joined by his full backing band as fans bid farewell to the gig space after 45 years.
“The Leadmill takes its final bow, and I’m honoured to play it out,” said Kane. “Come and join me and the band on June 27 for the last gig at The Leadmill… and the start of a new chapter for yours truly.”
Tickets go on general sale at 10am BST this Friday (June 6), and are limited to only 900. You’ll be able to buy yours here.
Last month, The Leadmill was denied an appeal against its eviction notice from Electric Group and given three months to vacate the premises on Leadmill Street. The current occupiers have since shared details of ‘The Last Dance’ club night on Saturday June 28, with Kane being the final scheduled live performer at the venue the previous evening.
Ben Hartley, Live Promoter, said: “Miles has been a cherished friend of The Leadmill for well over a decade.
“After the support he has shown us throughout our eviction campaign and the countless memories of sold-out shows throughout the years, it feels entirely fitting that he joins us one last time to add a remarkable full stop to The Leadmill’s concert history.”
Also set to perform as part of The Leadmill’s farewell month are The K’s and Joe Carnall Jnr – the frontman of Sheffield band Milburn.
Kane first performed at The Leadmill as a solo artist when touring his debut album ‘Colour Of The Trap’ in 2011. He has sold out the venue a further four times as a soloist – most recently launching his ‘One Man Band’ tour there in December 2023.
Additionally, the musician’s former band The Little Flames opened for Arctic Monkeys when they played two hometown shows at The Leadmill in 2007. Alex Turner and co expressed their support for the Sheffield landmark in 2022, after its landlord was issued with a notice of eviction.
Some fans are now speculating over whether Turner – Kane’s best friend and bandmate in The Last Shadow Puppets – could make a surprise appearance at the gig to say goodbye to The Leadmill.
“Surely Alex will be there for Last Shadow Puppets songs,” one person wrote on X. Another said on Instagram: “Bring @arcticmonkeys whilst you’re at it.” In response, a user commented: “The fact it’s Miles Kane gives you hope there may be a Last Shadow Puppets song in there.”
The Leadmill is due to host an ‘Arctic Monkeys Weekender’ next Friday and Saturday (June 13, 14), where attendees can “dance the night away on the very same stage that the band began their career on”.
Last month saw Arctic Monkeys’ Turner make a surprise appearance at the Music Week Awards in London, where he honoured the group’s manager Ian McAndrew.
In recent weeks, The Leadmill has called for any artist who would like the play a final show at the site to come forward, with “no act too big”.
The current owners have operated on the premises since 1980, welcoming other local legends including Pulp, Self Esteem and Bring Me The Horizon, as well as the likes of Muse, Coldplay, The Strokes, Oasis and many more.

New owner the Electric Group – which runs varous venues across the UK, including Brixton Electric – has vowed to keep the building as a music venue that will “continue to be a cornerstone of the live music scene in Sheffield, supporting artists, fans, and community projects for the next 100 years”.
Last month, Sheffield native Richard Hawley spoke to NME about his “overwhelming sense of sadness” over the loss of the original Leadmill, pleading for the government to change the law to stop it from happening to other such spaces.
