Candace Lee “Candy” Williams, 79, of Oblong, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 6:40 PM.

Born on July 4, 1945, in Robinson, IL, Candy was the daughter of Roy Henry and Mary Evelyn (Russell) Inboden. A proud graduate of Oblong High School, Class of 1963, she continued her education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and later at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson.

Candy married Johnie Joe Allen on March 25, 1964, and they shared two sons and many loving years together until his passing on August 1, 1982. She later married Richard Daniel Williams, and they enjoyed each other’s loving companionship for thirty-two years until Richard’s death on June 9, 2022.

Throughout her career, Candy worked as the head teller at First National Bank in Oblong and later served the community through her work with the Oblong Township. Her deep faith guided her throughout life, and she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oblong before attending Community of Christ in Martinsville, IL.

Candy’s deep faith was evident in the way she lived her life putting others first, whether it was through the quiet way she prepared family meals, addressed and wrote countless cards and letters and lovingly imparted support and wisdom to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The very definition of her life could be summed up as a quiet, loving, servant leader. She had a passion for reading, sewing, and tending to her outside flowers, but her true passion was an unwavering love for her family which was expressed in everything she did. She lived a life of quiet joy, never seeking the spotlight.

Candy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her sons, Joey (Jodi) Allen of Dayton, OH, and Jesse (Korina) Allen of Robinson; 5 step-children, Tony Williams of Oblong, Melissa Williams of Dana, IN, Angela “Angie” (Scott) Woods of Oblong, Rick (Jami McDaniel) Williams of Oblong, and Kevin Williams of Oblong; 10 Grandchildren, Brooke (Sam) Carr, Jessica Bell, Claire (Mason) Adams, Gracie Allen, Johnie (Adele Quigley McBride) Allen, Jena (Isaac) Davis, Logan Lee, Trinity lee, Gabriel Lee, and Colton Allen. 11 Step Grandchildren, Madeline Williams, Abigail Williams, Aleya Williams, Trey Williams, Tynleigh McDaniel, Amy Herrold, Amanda (Scott) Conrad, Tiffany (Dakota) Fritch, Toni (Kyle) Aubuchon, Kierstin (Zack) Naylor, and Allison (Jeremy) Layman. 4 Great-grandchildren: Bryar Stewart, Bryann Bell, Brecklyn Bell, and Brielle Bell. 15 Step-great-grandchildren, Blake Alford, Kaily Herrold, Hannah Herrold, Brandon Herrold, Dakota Herrold, Olivia Fritch, Cooper Fritch, Quinnten Gidley, Aadia Kajander, Wyatt Aubuchon, Violet Aubuchon, Zeegan Naylor, Karsyn Naylor, Brantley Layman, Mavric Layman and one more expected soon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and both of her beloved husbands.
