(Undated) — The 2025 Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games take place this weekend. The three-day event features a variety of competitions across the twin cities, ranging from swimming, Gymnastics, and Powerlifting. Special Olympics Illinois President and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Beale-DelVecchio, says the event highlights inclusion and positivity for athletes across the state. He says, counting athletes, coaches, and families, this year’s event will bring more than fifteen thousand people to Bloomington-Normal. Police Officers from Crawford County recently took part in the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, a major fundraising event for Special Olympics Illinois, which will culminate at the Opening Ceremony with the Flame of Hope being carried into Hancock Stadium tonight.
