(Undated) — We could see some of the lowest July 4th gas prices in recent years. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, with tensions in the Middle East cooling off after a few weeks of volatility, consumers planning to hit the road for the Independence Day weekend will see gasoline prices falling in the run-up to July 4th, nearly coast to coast. De Haan says relief could continue as the holiday weekend approaches, with the national average falling to its lowest July 4th level since 2021. The current national average is $3.14 a gallon, thirty-five cents lower than this time last year. Here in Illinois, the statewide average is $3.47 a gallon, thirty-six cents lower than in 2024. Indiana drivers are paying an average of $3.24 a gallon, down thirty-four cents from last year.
