Weekend Drowning Near St. Marie Remains Under Investigation

(Undated) — The investigation continues into the weekend drowning of a father and his two children northwest of St. Marie. According to Jasper County Coroner, Jason Meyer, the bodies of thirty-nine-year-old Travis Keebler, twelve-year-old Adelyn Keebler, and six-year-old Noah Keebler were recovered from the Embarras River Saturday evening following an extensive search. Authorities report that Saturday evening, at around 5:10 p.m., Jasper County 911 Dispatch received a call about the incident. First responders began searching the river and recovered the bodies, clearing the scene at around 11:30 p.m. Over a dozen local agencies responded to the scene including Crawford County Rescue, Vincennes Township Fire Department, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Wade Fire Department, Jasper County Ambulance Service, Jasper County EMA, Oblong Fire Department, Crooked Creek Fire Department, Dieterich Fire Department, Greenup Ambulance Service, Jasper County Coroner, Montrose Fire Department, Newton Police Department, and Robinson Fire Department.
