(Undated) — The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding the public to be careful with fireworks. Illinois State Fire Marshal Public Information Officer, JC Fultz, reminds the public that even “acceptable” fireworks like sparklers can reach temperatures of up to twelve hundred degrees.
Foltz recommends the much safer alternative of glow sticks.
The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office reports that 45 Illinois residents were hospitalized last year for 156 different firework-related injuries. Leaders say the majority of the injuries are from mortars, Roman candles, bottle rockets, and sparklers.
