Arthur Ray “Artie” Adams, 57, of Oblong, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 14th, 2025, at 8:05 P.M. at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL.
Arthur was born on January 10th, 1968, in Robinson, the son of Arthur Lyle Snider and Ruth Irene Midgett.
A 1986 graduate of Oblong High School, Artie worked for 35 years for Meese Farms in Oblong. In his younger years, his weekends were often spent riding bulls at rodeos throughout the Midwest alongside his rodeo circuit buddies. If you knew Arthur, you knew he was a true outdoorsman. In the fall after harvest, you could always find him in the woods, chasing after a big buck. He never missed a turkey season and participated in many fishing tournaments over the years.
Arthur has four kids whom he loved more than anything: Tasha (Kyle) Bogard of Casey, Austin (Cheyenne Wells) Adams of Oblong, Macie (Shane) Stewart of Robinson, and Carson (Lakin Littlejohn) Adams of Oblong. He instilled in each one of them his love for the outdoors and passed that down to his 7 grandchildren: Kreighton and Hadleigh Bogard, Ansley, Granger, and Alaina Adams and Greyson and Josie Stewart. Whether they were sitting in a deer stand with him, riding in the tractor, going for a Ranger ride, or watching them race go-karts, he was always happy to be surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his father, Arthur Snider of Oblong, his mother, Ruth Adams of Oblong. He is also survived by his sister, Vickie (Randy) Sholders of Oblong; his brother, Christopher (Meranda) Snider of Oblong; Stepsister, Marty Snider of Robinson, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
