(Undated) — Dangerously hot weather is forecast through the weekend. According to this morning’s “Hazardous Weather Outlook” from the National Weather Service, dangerously hot conditions are expected to persist through Monday, with peak heat index values ranging from 105 to 110 degrees. As a result, they have issued a “Heat Advisory.” The National Weather Service advises reducing risk during outdoor work by scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments, as recommended by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. They say heat stroke is an emergency and you should call 911. If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 or visit 211illinois.org for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the heat.
