(Palestine) — Authorities continue to investigate “skeletal remains” found in Palestine. According to Palestine Police Chief, Dan Cheadle, he, along with Crawford County Coroner, Earl Deckard, and members of the Illinois State Police Forensic Service unit, were called to the Palestine Home and Hardware Company over the weekend following the discovery of a skeleton in a closet. He says the skeleton was found in what used to be the office of Dr. Taylor and is believed to be an anatomical skeletal model. Cheadle says the bones were processed, photographed, bagged as evidence, and sent to an anthropologist for examination and determination of what further investigation is needed. He says this is an open and ongoing investigation.
