Dua Lipa set to star in new A24 comedy ‘Peaked’

Dua Lipa has been confirmed as part of the cast of a new A24 comedy called Peaked.

The film is being directed by actor and filmmaker Molly Gordon (The Bear), and written by Gordon and Allie Levitan.

The plot centres around two girls who were labelled as ‘terrorisers’ in high school, and follows them as they reunite with their classmates at a 10-year reunion and try to relive their glory days.

As reported by Deadline, Dua Lipa has joined the cast and will be making her first foray into an ensemble comedy role with the project.

She joins an already-impressive line-up, which includes Oscar-winner Laura Dern, Sex Education star Emma Mackey, Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie, and Bridgertons Simone Ashley.

Others on the cast include Gabby Windey, Levon Hawke, Emil Wakim, Mitra Jouhari, Alex Consani, Amy Sedaris, Owen Thiele, and Jaya Harper, and the project is being produced by A24, alongside David Hinojosa, Zach Nutman and Molly Gordon. Allie Levitan is listed as executive producer, and production is expected to kick off in New Jersey next month.

For Lipa, this won’t be the only time that the singer has turned her sights to the big screen. Already she has taken on two acting roles, playing Mermaid Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s hit 2024 film Barbie, and also playing LaGrange in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle.

At time of writing, more details about the new A24 movie are still under wraps, and it is not yet clear which character Lipa will be taking on, nor when the film is expected to be released.

The ‘Levitating’ singer last released a new album back in 2024, when she dropped her third record ‘Radical Optimism‘. It was given a three-star review from NME and described as chasing “hedonistic and carefree vibes”.

“This is a solid pop album – on occasions, a very good one – but also frustratingly passive,” it read. “Seldom does an artist hype up their upcoming release by downplaying it but many will finish ‘Radical Optimism’ with a sense of: ‘Is that it?’”
