On Sunday (March 9) French artist Guillaume Lazert walked 50km around Paris to start the artwork and yesterday (March 10), he finished things off with a 60km bike ride. In total, the project took 10 hours and 38 minutes to complete.
Lazert is a self-described GPS artist and he’s previously drawn both the Eiffel Tower and Homer Simpson in exercise app Strava.

Speaking to Lefigaro, he said: “My very first video game was Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64! It brought back a lot of memories during these 110 km! I would never have thought that one day I would trace him in the streets of Paris [but] this time, it was him who played with me and not the other way around!”
The drawing was then shared on X by Nintendeal, where it racked up more than 150,000 views. “Now that’s real dedication, you have to respect a person like that,” wrote one impressed fan while another joked Lazert was about to get “sued” by Nintendo.

The drawing was in celebration of Mario Day, an annual celebration of Nintendo’s mascot. Getting in the festive mood, Nintendo confirmed a number of discounts on classic Mario titles as well as a special Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament. However, there were no new game announcements with Nintendo presumably saving those for its upcoming Switch 2 Direct presentation which is happening next month.
The new console was officially confirmed earlier this year with a brief hardware-focused teaser trailer. No details about release date, price or launch titles have been revealed, though Nintendo has hinted that a new Mario Kart game will be coming to the Switch 2.
The Switch 2 Direct will take place April 2 at 2pm GMT and can be viewed here.
In other news, Grand Theft Auto 6 fans believe a new trailer for the long-awaited game will be shared next month.
