Summer Grilling Season is Just Around the Corner

(Undated) – As we march toward the “summer grilling season,” authorities are reminding you to stay safe. According to the National Fire Protection Association, fire departments went to an annual average of eighty-nine hundred home fires involving grills, hibachis, or barbecues, including thirty-nine hundred structure fires and nearly five thousand outside or unclassified fires. Children under five accounted for about thirty-nine percent of the “contact-type burns” per year. These burns typically occurred when someone, often a child, bumped into, touched, or fell on the grill, grill part, or hot coals.
