(Undated) — The continued wet weather has slowed down planting statewide. According to the latest Illinois Crop Progress and Condition report from the USDA, there were 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending April 27th. They report that corn planted reached 16 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 26 percent. Corn emerged reached 2 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 3 percent. Soybeans planted reached 22 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 20 percent. Soybeans emerged reached 4 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 2 percent. Winter wheat headed reached 16 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 12 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Find the full report from the USDA below.
