Corn Planting is Behind the Five Year Average

(Undated) — Corn planting progress statewide is behind the five-year average in all categories. According to the latest USDA Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report, corn planted reached thirty-two percent, compared to the 5-year average of forty-four percent. Corn emerged reached eight percent, compared to the 5-year average of eleven percent. Despite the slow going for corn, soybeans are on pace and even slightly ahead. Soybeans planted reached thirty-three percent, compared to the 5-year average of thirty-four percent. Soybeans emerged reached ten percent, compared to the 5-year average of seven percent.
