Wanda L. (Bennett) Goff

Miss Wanda L. (Bennett) Goff, age 95, of Robinson, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Robinson Health & Rehab following several months of declining health.

Wanda was born on July 3, 1929, in Clark County, Illinois, the daughter of Wayne and Kathryn (Smith) Bennett. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Robinson, where her father found employment. Wanda graduated with honors from Robinson Township High School in 1947 and entered the workforce soon thereafter.

On September 11, 1949, she married her forever love, Orville L. Goff, and together they shared 54 years of marriage until his passing in 2004. Though devoted to her family, Wanda had an enduring passion for professional life and returned to work as soon as her children were grown.

Her career began as a secretary at the J. Spencer Woodworth Insurance Agency. She then joined WTAY Radio Station, where she served as traffic manager and broadcaster. Wanda later became General Manager of Cox Cable in Robinson, a position she held for 17 years until her retirement in 1986. Not one to slow down, she continued working at Fashions and Footwear in Robinson, fully retiring in 1999.

A faithful servant of her community and her church, Wanda was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Robinson for 49 years. There, she served in many roles including choir member, financial secretary, Sunday School Superintendent, praise team singer, and Church Registrar. She was also the oldest and longest-serving member of the LTC Senior Choir, flower chairwoman for the Business & Professional Women’s Club of Robinson and served on the administrative removal board for the Illinois Department of Corrections. Currently she was a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Robinson, IL

Wanda is survived by her son, Mark D. (Ophelia) Goff of Blue Ridge, TX; grandchild, Franky Goff; great-grandchildren, Brynn Mackenzie Watts, Riley Bennett Watts, and Logan Watts; step-grandchildren, Freddy and Johnnie Martinez; step-great-grandchildren, Freddy Alberti Martinez, Harper Martinez and Max Martinez; brother-in-law, John O. Goff of Robinson; sisters-in-law, Opal Corder and Wilma Montgomery, both of Robinson; a nephew Aaron Sanchez and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville; her son, Stephen G. Goff; her brother Harold O. Bennett; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and David Pringle; a grandson, Bradly Watts and a step-great-grandson, Jesse Martinez, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday May 23, 2025, at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, Illinois, with Bro. Rick Britton officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at the Robinson New Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Highland Avenue Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
