The production team behind The Hunger Games have put out casting call for “one lucky fan” to star in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping – which will hit cinemas in November 2026.

The upcoming film will be directed by Francis Lawrence, from a script by Billy Ray that adapts Suzanne Collins‘ best-selling novel of the same name. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson produce for Color Force, while Cameron MacConomy executive produces.

The storyline takes place 24 years before the events of the first Hunger Games book and film, following the 50th Hunger Games, in which Haymitch Abernathy (originally played by Woody Harrelson) competed.

Now, the Hunger Games franchise has posted on their official X account to invite fans who are interested in having a role in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping  to audition. Applicants are asked to act out a scene, perform a song, or “surprise” with a new talent.

No previous experience is required, and all talents are welcome. Video audition tapes must be under a minute long, and the full set of rules can be found on Lionsgate’s website here.

Recently, it was announced that Ralph Fiennes has joined the cast of the upcoming Hunger Games prequel and will play fictional dictator President Snow. He joins Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak, Mckenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Maya Hawke, Lili Taylor and Ben Wang who have previously been announced as castmembers.

The character was originally played by Donald Sutherland, who died last year aged 88. “We wanted to honor Donald Sutherland by having one of this generation’s greatest actors play President Snow 24 years before Katniss Everdeen entered the arena,” producer Jacobson told Hollywood Reporter.

“Working with Ralph has been on my bucket list since he traumatised me for life in Schindler’s List,” Jacobson added. “It’s genuinely a thrill to welcome him to the Hunger Games.”

The upcoming film will be the sixth instalment of the Hunger Games franchise. The first four movies, focusing on Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen, were released between 2012 and 2015, all of which were box office hits.

The last Hunger Games film,  The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes, received a four-star review from NME, which called it “the best of the franchise” owing to the film’s “tense, paranoid latter half”.
