Lorde has made a surprise appearance at a club night themed in her honour in Sydney – check out clips of her shock arrival and more below.

Last night (May 25), Sydney, Australia’s Mary’s Underground club threw a party in Lorde’s honour, dubbed What Was That: A Club Night Dedicated to Lorde. The party was partly organised by Xeimma, who DJed at the event.

Mid-way through the club night, fans were shocked to witness the arrival of Lorde herself – a handful of fans spotted the Kiwi musician at the venue and exchanged pleasantries before the club erupted into cheers.

Lorde later made her way onto the stage and console, though she didn’t perform herself. Check out clips of Lorde dancing with fans and her arrival at Mary’s Underground below.

Following the conclusion of the event, Xeimma wrote on Instagram along with photos of herself and Lorde: “Still in disbelief. Feeling unbelievably grateful to @lorde for making this a night we’ll talk about for years. It’s official – Lorde came to my party on 25 May 2025. After years of throwing events, this was one of the most rewarding nights of my life. Completely unmatched. Thank you for all the love everyone!!!”

Lorde is currently gearing up to share her new album ‘Virgin’ on June 27. It will mark her fourth album and first since 2021’s ‘Solar Power’. It has already been previewed by the lead single ‘What Was That’.

She has also announced that she will be hitting the road again this year for some headline tour dates across the UK, Europe and North America in celebration of the album. These kick off in September in Austin, Texas, and run through to December, where the tour wraps up with a final stop in Stockholm.

Special guests for the shows include The Japanese HouseNilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of and Oklou, as well as Blood Orange – with Devonte Hynes featuring on the album – and co-producer Jim-E Stack. In the run-up to the album release and subsequent tour, Lorde has been sharing details about things that may have impacted her sound. These include candid discussions about her gender identity and evolution, her time overcoming eating struggles, and how the upcoming shows may be her “masterpiece”.
