Scammers Capitalize on Tariff Confusion

(Undated) — Scammers never miss an opportunity to use current events as a part of their pitch. According to the Better Business Bureau, some scammers are capitalizing on the attention tariffs are receiving in national news. BBB Investigator, Don O’Brien, says it has been especially effective online. He says scammers will take your order and then that order will never arrive.
He says you need to do your homework when placing an online order and only shop on websites you trust. He says if you found a website through a search engine, look past the sponsored ads, and check all reviews, not just the ones in the ad’s comments section, and if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
