West Nile Virus Found in Seventeen Illinois Counties

(Undated) — The Illinois Department of Public Health is confirming that West Nile Virus has been found in mosquito samples in 17 counties this year in Illinois. To date, no human cases of the virus have been reported in the state. According to the IDPH, the largest concentration is in Cook and DuPage counties. They say last year, there were sixty-nine confirmed human cases of West Nile, including thirteen deaths, the highest number since seventeen human deaths were recorded in 2018.
