(Undated) — The Illinois Department of Transportation is again warning the public to be on the lookout for “road buckling.” According to IDOT Public Information Officer, Paul Wappel, these buckling roads can happen without warning.
He reminds the public to give all road crews plenty of room to work. Wappel says “road buckling” is do to the expansion of the pavement and concrete during “prolonged periods of heat.”
Wappel says if you spot a buckling road, call IDOT at 800-452-4368 or local law enforcement.
