(Undated) — Wet and stormy weather remains in the forecast for the area. According to this morning’s “Hazardous Weather Outlook” from the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and early evening. They say some of these storms could be severe with damaging wind gusts and heavy rain as the primary concerns. Additional storms may overspread portions of central Illinois overnight, with heavy rain the primary hazard. They also say that heat index values will peak around 100 to 105 degrees for most of central Illinois this afternoon. The chance of rain is forecast to continue with “daily chances” for showers and thunderstorms Thursday through Tuesday. The National Weather Service says a few severe storms are possible south of I-70 Thursday afternoon. Otherwise, the severe threat remains low or is uncertain.
