(Undated) — Tornado frequency is letting up in Illinois. According to State Climatologist, Trent Ford, following an action-packed June when there were twenty-four, July has seen just one reported tornado. Ford says it appears as though we may not see a “really intense” end to the summer tornado season.
As of the end of June, Illinois had recorded one hundred twenty-nine tornadoes in 2025, which is approaching last year’s record number of one-hundred-forty-two.
