IDOT Announces Route 33 Newton to Effingham Project

(Undated) — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a patching and resurfacing project on Illinois 33 from the Effingham County line to West End Avenue in Newton. IDOT says that lane closures are expected, and flaggers will be used to direct traffic through the work zones. They say there will be up to three days when access to Jasper County Junior High School and Newton Community High School from Illinois 33 may be restricted. Work is set to begin Monday and the project is expected to be completed by the end of August. Officials say motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, the use of alternate routes may be necessary.
