Mechanical Issue Leads to Bus Evacuation

(Robinson) — Mechanical issues with a school bus led to some early morning excitement for a group of students yesterday. According to Unit 2 officials mechanical issues on the bus driven by Sandy Anderson caused smoke to roll out from the engine compartment of the bus. Following the evacuation procedure, Anderson pulled to the side of the road and notified Unit 2 dispatch who in turn called 911. She then immediately evacuated the bus and saw to it that her students were boarded safely onto another bus. Unit 2 official praise Anderson for her quick thinking and presence of mind. The Robinson Fire Department, Robinson Police and Crawford County Sheriff responded to the 911 call.
