Newton PD Now Hiring

(Newton) — The Newton Police Department is now hiring. According to city officials, beginning pay for an entry-level officer is $27.27 an hour. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, IMRF pension plan, and uniform allowance. The application deadline is Monday, September 15th. Qualified entry-level applicants will be contacted and must attend the physical and written testing. Lateral applications are not subject to testing and will be notified of their interview date and time. Successful lateral candidates may be eligible for a hiring bonus of up to ten thousand dollars. Successful entry-level candidates may qualify for a bonus after completion of basic training. All officers hired by the City of Newton are required, as a condition of their employment with the City, to live within Jasper County within 1 year from the date of hiring.
