According to the BBB Scam Tracker, fraudsters are setting up fake websites and impersonating stores to offer significantly low prices. BBB Investigator, Don O’Brien, says those shopping online should remember the adage of “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
O’Brien also reminds customers to be on the lookout for “seasonal pop-up shops.” He says one tip to avoid the online costume scam is to research before you buy and check Google reviews.
