(Robinson) — Multiple departments responded to the scene of a fatal Saturday afternoon fire in Robinson. According to Robinson Fire Protection District Chief, Riley Pearce, at approximately 12:07 p.m., Crawford County dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting a house fire at the 1600 block of South Pickford Street with a possible victim still inside. Pearce says first arriving units found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the residence. Firefighters immediately began search and rescue, but due to extreme heat, they were unable to complete a primary search. He says a hose line was deployed to extinguish the fire from the exterior, while a second hose line was deployed to initiate an aggressive “interior attack.” During this search, crews located an unresponsive adult occupant. The victim’s name has not been released at this time. Pearce says “fire control” was made within 45 minutes. However, crews remained on scene until 6 p.m. last night. The Oblong Fire Department, LaMotte Township Fire Protection District, United Life Care Ambulance, and the Robinson Police Department provided mutual aid. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
