(Undated) – The University of Illinois Extension is once again offering hunters a chance to help those in need. “Hunters Feeding Illinois” returns for its fourth season. “Hunters Feeding Illinois” has the mission to connect hunters, meat processors, and food pantries to support access to lean protein for Illinois residents and families. The U of I says one in ten people in Illinois experience hunger every day, including one in eight children. The U of I says in the 2024-2025 hunting season, “Hunters Feeding Illinois” distributed 25,794 pounds of frozen, ground venison to 54 food pantries across east-central and southern Illinois. This provided an estimated 97,000 meals, reaching nearly 49,800 families. To learn about the program and how you can get involved, visit extension.illinois.edu.
