BBB Issues Advent Calendar Scam Warning

(Undated) — The Better Business Bureau is reminding the public that when ordering anything online, you need to do your homework. The latest twist on the “online ordering scam” involves Advent Calendars. BBB Investigator, Don O’Brien, says you may be scrolling through social media, find an ad for one, see several positive reviews, place your order, but the items never arrive. He says, even worse, you might run the risk of losing your personal information too. O’Brien says buying something on social media on a whim can be tempting, especially if it isn’t too expensive, but resist the urge. Search for the business before you click “buy” to make sure they have a legitimate website and contact information. Look for the BBB Seal or search on BBB.org to see if the business is BBB Accredited.
