Robert Joseph “Bob” Dallmier, age 70, of Oblong, Illinois, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 21, 2026. He was born on August 13, 1955, in Newton, Illinois, to Lorraine Vincent and Lucille Margaret (Volk) Dallmier. On October 20, 1973, Bob married the love of his life, Diana Jean Huddleston, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois. Together they built a life centered around faith, family, and 52 wonderful years of marriage.

Bob is survived by his wife, Diana Dallmier; his children, Jennifer (Nick) Maglone, Laura “Dally” (Matt) Walker, Joe (Jamie) Dallmier, and Daniel (Shurron Goble) Dallmier; and his cherished grandchildren, Simon (Beth) Walker, Cameron Walker, Nick (Bailey) Potter, Bry (Kasey Fleek) Potter, Ashton Walker, and Peyton Walker. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Lincoln Walker, Athena Walker, and another great-grandchild, Baby Walker, on the way.

He is further survived by his siblings, Vincent (Mary) Dallmier, Rose Mary Miller, Theresa (Raymond) Zwilling, David (Rita) Dallmier, Jerry (Teresa) Dallmier, Tom (Kathy) Dallmier, Becky Shamhart, Brenda (Bernie) Zuber, Jim Dallmier, and Liz Ginder; his brother-in-law, Duane (Vicki) Huddleston; sister-in-law, Dena (Bruce) Rauch; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends whom he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Lucille Dallmier; his in-laws, Harold “Hud” and Jean Huddleston; brothers-in-law, Raymond Miller and Ed Ginder; and sisters-in-law, Janet Dallmier and Tracy Huddleston.

Bob was a 1973 graduate of Newton Community High School. Shortly after graduation, he began his career at Heath in Robinson, Illinois, which later became Leaf, Inc. and eventually The Hershey Company. Bob worked as a line maintenance technician in packaging, where he became well known and well-liked by his coworkers. He took great pride in his work and was deeply committed to his job, remaining there until 2013 when he was forced into retirement following a cancer diagnosis. Those who knew him best know that he would have gladly continued working if he had been able. Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and sharp sarcasm that could keep anyone around him laughing.

Bob loved the outdoors and rarely passed up an opportunity to enjoy it. He spent many hours hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and tending his garden, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors in need. One of his favorite traditions was attending the annual Old York Fish Camps with lifelong friends during Memorial Day week. Bob was a hardworking man who always had a project to work on and seldom sat still. He will be deeply missed by his Amish friends.

He was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts and never missed a chance to listen to or watch a game. Above all, Bob treasured time spent with his family. He looked forward to annual camping trips and loved attending events and activities involving his children and grandchildren. In quieter moments, he enjoyed playing cards—often serving as the most opinionated partner at the table—playing bags, working sudoku and crossword puzzles and playing his favorite slot game on his computer.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Pulliam Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Phil Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Aten Cemetery.
