(Oblong) — An Oblong teacher was recently recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education. The ISBE celebrated excellence in education at the “52nd Annual Those Who Excel and Teacher of the Year” Awards Banquet on April 18th in Normal. Kristen Dycus, was given the “Award of Meritorious Service.” According to the ISBE, this award goes to educators who have gone above and beyond in service to their school communities. They say these are experienced educators who have taken on leadership opportunities and whose accomplishments uplift the culture of learning in their school. Dycus is a teacher at Oblong Grade School.
