(Undated) — May is “American Stroke Month.” According to the American Heart Association, the fifth leading killer of Americans is stroke. They say that while more common in the elderly, it can also occur in young people. They say that while the symptoms can come on fairly suddenly, fast action can make all the difference. They remind the public that when you spot a stroke warning sign, “B.E F.A.S.T.” If you observe Balance Loss, Eye or Vision Changes, Face Drooping, Arm Weakness, or Speech Difficulty, it’s Time to Call 911. Recognizing the stroke warning signs and calling 911 immediately may make the difference between a strong recovery or long-term disability, survival or death. Learn more at stroke.org.
