BBB Issues E-Signature Scam Warning

By Tony Collins May 27, 2026 | 6:37 AM

(Undated) — The BBB is issuing a warning about “e-signature scams.” Better Business Bureau Investigator, Don O’Brien, says that in the never-ending attempt to scam consumers out of their money, criminals are now ramping up their use of e-signature scams. He says that while the use of e-signatures is a legit way of doing business, scammers try to make you think you need to quickly sign, and that urgency is a big red flag. O’Brien says you should always be on the lookout for “urgent language.” Be wary of unexpected emails. He says you should make sure to verify the sender and contact information. O’Brien says to look for grammatical errors or odd phrasing and review everything carefully before signing, whether in person or digitally. Learn more at BBB.org.
