YHWH Nailgun have surprise-released the 11-minute album ‘Magazine’ and announced a secret pop-up London show for this weekend.

The New York-based noise rock group released their attention-grabbing debut record ‘45 Pounds’ in March last year, a record that went on to be named as one of NME’s best albums of the year.

Now, the former NME Cover stars have released their latest studio record, ‘Magazine’, which packs 10 tracks into just 11 minutes. It is their first release on their brand new label, 4AD.

Described as “less like a conventional album than a fragment pulled from an endless transmission”, the record sees the band continue to explore the furthest reaches of no-wave and experimental alternative rock, with complex rhythms, industrial percussion, alien sound sampling and wild, deranged vocals from Zack Borzone.

The group spoke to NME about their songwriting process last year. “Sometimes you can find you’re trying to say something without knowing what it is that you’re trying to say. It’s not a controlled thing,” frontman Zack Borzone said.

Drummer Sam Pickard added: “It’s like a chicken and egg. You assign certain words or symbols or whatever to the music, but you don’t know which one’s informing the other one.”

Hailing ‘45 Pounds’, NME wrote: “YHWH Nailgun, by their own admission, aren’t for everyone. For those adventurous enough to explore indie’s outer reaches, however, ‘45 Pounds’ was one of 2025’s most entrancing, addictive listens. A writhing, genre-defiant 21-minute shapeshift with an unrelenting percussive drive, it presents propulsive, progressive ideas so crazy they just might work.”
