(Oblong) — Oblong Mayor, Teresa Fielder, recently took to social media to talk about solicitors. Fielder says when solicitors register with the Chief of Police, they undergo a background check and are given a permit that includes the name of the company they are soliciting for, along with a badge stating the same and the dates they will be inside the Village limits. She also says that when this happens, there will be a Facebook post of the company or individuals who have a permit. Fielder says if you do not want to engage with solicitors, do not open the door or kindly tell them you are not interested. Lastly, she says Ameren does not send any employees door-to-door.
