(Undated) — Following Wednesday’s storms, the National Weather Service has confirmed tornadoes across the area. The storm that impacted the Charleston-Matton area has been confirmed as an EF-2 with peak winds of 116 mph. It reportedly stayed on the ground for nearly fourteen miles and had a max width of 800 yards. The second confirmed tornado, an EF1, impacted Clay and Vigo Counties, bringing peak winds estimated at 110 mph. The path ran for nearly 7 miles and was 300 yards wide at its maximum. Damage in Effingham and Jasper counties was surveyed yesterday and is being evaluated.
