Friday Fire at the Corner Bar Remains Under Investigation

(Robinson) — The investigation into last week’s fire at the Corner Bar continues. According to Robinson Fire Chief, Riley Pearce, at around 9:30 p.m. Friday, the Robinson Fire Protection District was dispatched to “a commercial structure fire at the 200 block of N. Cross Street in Robinson.” He says the first units arrived on scene in less than 4 minutes and found the building with fire showing from the rear. Pearce says crews immediately deployed “hand lines” to begin extinguishing the fire while searching the structure to ensure all occupants had safely evacuated. He says the building suffered “significant fire damage” within the attic as well as “moderate smoke damage” throughout the structure. No injuries were reported. The Lamotte Township Fire, United Life Care Ambulance, the Robinson Police Department, and Ameren assisted the Robinson Fire Protection District. Pearce says the cause and origin of this fire is currently under investigation.
